Contemporary Ease

While flicking through a copy of Vogue Entertaining and Travel, a restaurant interior caught my eye.

Melbourne's Cafe Vue de Monde and it's Chef Shannon Bennett have accumulated an impressive list of rave reviews for its "homage to fine dining". However, its not the breathtaking food, in-house bakery or chocolatier that drew me to investigate further, it was the interior designed by architects Elenberg Fraser that particularly interested me.

Elenberg Fraser's "modern interpretation of the era of Marie Antoinette", allowed them to create "The Queens Corset" dining table (pictured above). The sulphurous-yellow painted chairs make a striking statement - a brilliant way of updating a bentwood chair and at the same time breaking down stuffy "formality for a feeling of contemporary ease".

This season you can buy classic bentwood chairs in bright colours from The Conran Shop but if you have some old chairs at home and want to add a new lease of life to them have a look at our new range of Fauvism 55 colours which are all available in Valtti's Furniture Paint.
