Looking for a unique or hand crafted object?

If so, perhaps you should visit the East London Design Show which runs from 3rd-6th December 2009. It is an annual event which brings together independent design-makers of glass, ceramics, homewares and furniture.

Investing in handcrafted work can transform an interior, giving it an edge that is impossible to achieve using solely manufactured pieces. It will add interest, often be a talking point and more importantly, personalise a room.

So often you will see the same products in city centre shops no matter what town or country you happen to be in making design shows such as this the perfect antidote. However, you may also be taken down memory lane - for those brought up in the 1970's you will be delighted to see the return of Clothkits!

Pictured above is exhibitor Yoyo Ceramic's Yoyomaker Plate - a brilliant nod to the 1950's Homemaker brand but refreshed and brought up to date with recent design icons.

Aah Clothkits! Just a single simple word inspires many happy memories to unravel... Hope there is a national archive of the original catalogues somewhere.
