I think its safe to say we all love maps. Is it the romanicism of mysterious and unfamiliar countries we like to gaze at on a map or is it just that we like to understand our global position in the scheme of things?

I know they have a practical use helping us navigate from A to B but there seems to be a bigger draw than the pure usefulness of a map. Perhaps its just the influence the geography classroom had on us all with the vast slightly crinkley words maps hanging off the walls at school. Well whatever it is, maps are certainly big in interiors at the moment.

The huge wall maps from www.futuremaps.co.uk allow us to have pink, green, cream & coral all on one page! Or orange, yellow, green, aqua . . . or . . . gold, khaki, yellow & sage. A focal point in a room with great colours and a pratical use, well it doesn't get much better than that.

Maps have reached the dining table too. Look at the world cities dinner mats. Certainly a good starting point for your conversation with your dinner guests.

Any self respecting bachelor pad cant reach its urban chic status without the addition of a contemporary globe. We like the Simplicity globe as its clear with grey tones.

Joining the iconic London underground tube map is now the eye-wateringly bright Tokyo underground map. A brilliant piece of art for your walls

And finally we especially love this new book by Nigel Peake, who is a former RIBA silver award commended architecture student from the university of Edinburgh - a must for any map lover.
