Paint fading

Rapid or excessive colour fading, typically on south and west-facing walls exposed to plenty of sunlight. Chalking of the paint film may also cause fading or poor durability.

How to avoid paint fading:

  • Choose a paint suitable for exterior surfaces
  • No paint in the world is immune from the effects of UV sunlight, certain factors can exacerbate the problem though. The more vibrant the colour the more susceptible to fading it is. Keep your colour choice in mind when choosing to paint outside, the paint will last around 10 years protecting your home but the colour might fade after 8 it is all down to the sun.
