- Choose your colours in the same light as you are planning for your room
- Make sure you read the label and information on the paint before using it
- You can buy patterning utensils at your local DIY shop but you can experiment with plastic bags, chamois leather and various brushes
- Always protect floors, skirtings and coverings of electrical fittings first. Remember to strip off the tape while the paint is still wet
- Always make sure you have enough paint to finish the job with the same set of patterning materials
- If the paint gets in the wrong place remove it at once with a damp sponge or rag
- Remember to wash your brushes and utensils at once when the job is done.
Below we've outlined a popular patterning techniques to inspire you to get started.
Colour wash – gives a home atmosphere
Colour wash is a fast and simple way to enliven single-colour walls in your home. You can choose delicate, hazy colours or fresh, bright ones – colour wash brings walls to life.
Select your colours with care: the pattern will be more delicate the closer the Feelings Effect Paint is to the colour of the undercoat.
You get the best results with a Feelings Effect Paint that is slightly darker and more muted than the undercoat.
Colour wash technique
Apply undercoat to the walls with a Feelings Interior Paint or Eko Joker. Leave the paint to dry thoroughly.
Stir water into the Feelings Effect Paint (ratio 1:1).
Then apply the Feelings Effect Paint to the wall with rotating strokes as though washing it. Do not press hard – wipe it on lightly to spread the paint evenly.
Apply two or three coats for an even and colour-saturated finish. Leave the paint to dry between coats
